Restoration: The Syntax Lamp
All it took is a good scrub and a dash of color to bring out the beauty of what I consider a family heirloom.
I am not sure when this brass lamp came into our family. Darkened with eons of grime, I saw it only when we moved houses and it ended up being tucked away on a loft with other "not-yet-for-disposal" objects gathering dust. A simple scrub revealed the golden hues of brass and it was indeed a treasure (otherwise) destined to be disposed.
Brass is a high-maintenance material and prone to tarnish. I decided to go ahead with wall-paints and reasons being three-fold: it's not invasive on brass, removable, and gives a classy "matte-finish" look.
A wicker lampshade completed the piece to make what was once a table-top kerosene lamp to a ceiling lamp.
